Certification in MHS Mental Health Support

This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for providing effective intervention and support for people experiencing mental health struggles or a mental health crisis.

Some theoretical learning is conducted via e-learning before attending the in-person component.

This course is not a therapy or support session, nor a self-help course for mental health concerns. This course is designed to provide basic education about signs and symptoms of mental health issues, and how to use the CARE framework to render assistance to those who may be struggling or experiencing a crisis.

Course Title:	Mental Health Support
Mode of Delivery:	This is a blended course with self-paced online learning (e-Learning) and face to face interactive educational session. Before attending the face to face session, students will need to complete their e-Learning which can be done in one sitting or over several sessions.
Duration:	Depending on the student's learning ability, they should allow up to 1 hour for reading the e-manual and completing the e-Learning. The face-to-face interactive educational session takes 2.5 hours in a classroom environment.
Assessment:	This course is not formally assessed. It is a non-accredited educational course.
Age Requirements:	Minimum age is 14 Years.

Course Content

MHS Mental Health Support

This course presents the following key skills and knowledge:

Recognise common signs and symptoms of mental health issues
Ensure safety for self, bystanders and the person who is struggling or in a crisis
Assess the severity of the situation
Seek assistance from emergency services
Offer assistance to the person using the CARE framework for mental health
Display respectful behaviour towards the person

Certificate Issued

A PDF Certificate of Attendance will be emailed to you the same day as your successful completion of the training.

Australia Wide First Aid is a Registered Training Organisation No. 31961.

Who Can Attend?

This course is designed for those over the age of 14, and does not refer to specific workplace contexts. This is a general course.
